Safe Systems Uses Managed Services Solution to Scale Services Nationwide, Grow 25 Percent per Year
ST. HELIER, JERSEY, September 23, 2008—Kaseya, a global provider of information technology (IT) automation software for IT solution providers and public and private sector IT organizations announced today that Safe Systems, Inc. has deployed Kaseya’s managed services solution to help it expand from a regional network integrator that focuses on community banks to a managed service provider (MSP) with national reach. In six months since deploying the Kaseya solution, Safe Systems has more than doubled the number of customer systems it manages—from 3,000 in February 2008 to more than 6,000 in August—putting the company on pace to eclipse its goal of 15,000 systems nationwide by March 2009.
“With Kaseya, we are now able to scale our services mush more easily, allowing us to implement an intelligent and pragmatic migration strategy that moves existing break-fix customers and new customers from around the country to the MSP model in a phased roll-out with minimal interruption to day-to-day operations or customer service,” said Curt Frierson, executive vice president of technology and education, Safe Systems. “And we’ve managed this growth without adding staff and while eliminating inefficiencies.”
Safe Systems’ previous appliance-based IT management solution was not able to scale quickly or non-disruptively in order to meet the company’s aggressive growth goals. When Safe Systems tried to scale past 3,000 clients—well short of its goal—the software started to break down, slowing to a crawl or completely crashing at the most inopportune times. In addition, the vendor’s pricing structure kept changing, preventing Safe Systems from setting a consistent monthly flat fee for its customers—a necessity when migrating to an MSP business model.
After months of troubleshooting, Safe Systems deployed Kaseya’s IT automation software, giving the MSP a reliable and robust IT management platform in which to seamlessly scale its managed services quickly and efficiently across the country, remotely installing agents that automatically monitor and manage thousands of servers and workstations from the company’s Network Operations Center (NOC) in Atlanta. Network engineers and support personnel now have complete access and visibility into customers’ IT environments from a central Web-based management console, enabling small centralized teams to manage a large growing number of distributed systems.
The scalability, performance, remote access and automated functionality of the Kaseya software enables an efficient service delivery model, helping to increase revenue and reduce operational costs. As a result, Safe Systems has increased MSP sales 37 percent year over year despite a tough economic climate.
“Kaseya gives us a single tool in which to provide consistent network and Internet technology solutions to our customers, helping them establish a strong foundation for their future growth and success,” Frierson said. “It’s a mission-critical tool for our company, and it allows us to provide cost-efficient, scalable services to our customers, enabling aggressive growth and a national business model.”
Safe Systems is also testing Kaseya’s Endpoint Security (KES), User State Management (KUSM) and Backup and Disaster Recovery (BU/DR) modules, possibly extending the solution’s functionality and adding more services to the company’s portfolio. If implemented, administrators will be able to remotely monitor, maintain, update, secure, back up, manage user profiles and monitor power settings of any server or workstation throughout its customer environments—scaled quickly and seamlessly from a single management console and regardless of distance from headquarters.
“Managed service providers need to be able to scale quickly in order to take advantage of business opportunities—especially in this tough economic climate,” said Jim Alves, executive vice president of product marketing, Kaseya. “The Kaseya platform allows MSPs to build a robust and scalable foundation for fast, efficient service deployments, giving them the tools they need to provide their customers consistent and reliable managed services.”
