Kaseya VSA Deepens ConnectWise integration, Hooks into Cisco Network Management Platform for Routers and Switches

Kaseya, in keeping with the needs of multi-vendor MSPs, is openly committed to integration with key tools service providers use.

As testament to this, VSA now has deeper integration with the ConnectWise Manage PSA. Meanwhile, VSA also ties deeply into Cisco’s network management tool FindIT, aimed largely at managing the network giant’s own gear.

A Wise Connection

While some customers are ditching the ConnectWise PSA for Kaseya BMS, not all MSPs are making this move. That makes RMM/PSA integration critical.

For those that want to move from ConnectWise to BMS, Kaseya has created the PSA migrator, a tool that helped The 20 easily switch its MSP members to BMS.

The 20 was a long time ConnectWise user, but found the tool was running out of gas. “It was all single tenant and a single instance of ConnectWise,” said The 20 CEO Tim Conkle.  As a result, the system slows dramatically as more clients are added, and cannot handle the additional workloads.

Conkle was forced add more ConnectWise installations to handle client growth, which is a kludge and difficult to manage. “ConnectWise was not made for multi-tenant. We played with it to make it work, but it really was not functional. It held us back,” Conkle recalled. “It was never built for a ton of users.”

MSPs Laud Integration

MSPs are fans of the integration. “Being able to choose the best in breed technologies for our business is one of the keys to our success. Making sure that these solutions work together is the other, equally important part of the equation,” said Matt Burnette, proactive services team lead, Acropolis Technology Group. “Kaseya’s ongoing commitment to ensuring compatibility and interoperability across multiple vendor products makes it easy for us to seamlessly deliver the best products and services to our customers, and maintain the highest levels of quality.”

An automated, bi-directional sync plugin, the Kaseya PSA Connector enables seamless integration between Kaseya’s VSA remote monitoring and management (RMM) solution and ConnectWise Manage PSA. New features in the cross-product integration will dramatically reduce the time it takes for technicians to resolve issues, enabling MSPs to deliver a superior level of customer service at a lower cost. New features and functionality between VSA by Kaseya and ConnectWise Manage include:

  •         One-click Kaseya Live Connect and remote control from within a ConnectWise Manage ticket, providing real-time endpoint connectivity to speed troubleshooting
  •         Kaseya custom audit to ConnectWise configuration item synchronization, giving technicians detailed endpoint information to lower mean time to repair (MTTR)
  •         New ticket de-duplication and consolidation, driving technician efficiency by aggregating related issues into a single ticket
  •         Automated ticket time entry synchronization, enabling MSPs to both accurately capture activity and bill customers
  •         Integration with Kaseya’s SaaS VSA RMM platform, offering expanded coverage to both on-premises and cloud deployments

The Cisco Hook

The Cisco news, covered by MSP website Channele2e, means that the Kaseya RMM can manage Cisco network hardware with the same single pane of glass used to manage end points through the use of a FindIT plug-in.

“The FindIT Network Manager and Probe are designed to manage Cisco 100 to 500 Series switches, routers, and wireless access points, according to Cisco. MSPs can configure system information, wireless networks, virtual LANs, and Ethernet switching in a single interface, the company says. And MSPs can monitor network performance with a customizable dashboard. Automatic network discovery comes with a topology diagram and an inventory report,” Channele2e wrote.

With the integration, MSPs and MMEs can get to all their FindIT workflows from within the VSA interface.
