SharePoint and OneDrive external sharing controls

SaaS Alerts now includes four new remediation options for SharePoint and OneDrive external sharing, helping you apply safer sharing settings across an entire tenant.

You can require anonymous sharing links to expire within 1–730 days, with a 30-day default, set sharing links to organization-only access by default, restrict anonymous links to view-only, and default sharing links to view instead of edit. All four controls are tenant-wide and use the existing SharePoint administrator permissions introduced in v3.30.0, so no reconnect is required.

These controls help MSPs reduce external sharing risk, apply more consistent tenant security settings, and strengthen Microsoft 365 environments without adding extra setup steps.
