Dark Web ID now uses standardized password masking rules to improve data security and consistency across the platform.
When a compromised password is detected for a domain, email or IP address, only the first four characters will remain visible. All remaining characters are replaced with asterisks (*), preserving the original length of the password. For passwords longer than 14 characters, an ellipsis (…) is added at the end to indicate truncation.
These enhancements ensure sensitive data remains protected while maintaining context for analysis, helping security teams identify and respond to exposures more safely and efficiently.
