JOB DESCRIPTION
Procurement Category Buyer — Indirect
Location Bangalore, IN Preferred) | Department Procurement | Level Individual Contributor | Reports To Director Procurement |
The Opportunity
We are looking for an analytically sharp, relationship-driven Category Buyer to join Kaseya's Procurement team. In this role, you will own a portfolio of indirect spend categories — with emphasis on IT hardware, software, SaaS, professional services and other services — and drive sourcing strategies that reduce cost, mitigate risk, and support the speed of the business. You will work cross-functionally with IT, Legal, Security, and Finance stakeholders, and will be expected to manage supplier relationships and contracts with precision and commercial acumen.
This is a high-visibility role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings structured thinking to sourcing problems, and communicates effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
- Own and manage assigned indirect spend categories, developing multi-year category strategies aligned with business priorities and spend targets.
- Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and supplier landscaping to identify sourcing opportunities and drive competitive positioning.
- Execute end-to-end sourcing events including RFIs, RFPs, and reverse auctions; manage supplier selection, evaluation, and award recommendations.
- Maintain category playbooks that document sourcing strategies, preferred suppliers, pricing benchmarks, and contractual standards for each category.
- Continuously monitor category market dynamics (pricing trends, supply chain disruptions, supplier consolidation) and proactively brief stakeholders on impact.
Contract Negotiation & Management
- Lead commercial negotiations for assigned categories including software licensing, SaaS subscriptions, hardware supply agreements, and professional services contracts.
- Negotiate key terms: pricing, payment terms, SLAs, termination rights, auto-renewal provisions, indemnification, and data processing requirements (DPAs).
- Partner with Legal and Security teams on redlines and contract finalization; ensure contracts are executed within Delegation of Authority (DoA) thresholds.
- Own post-signature contract lifecycle activities: milestone tracking, renewal management, compliance monitoring, and amendment processing within CLM systems.
- Flag and escalate material risks or non-standard terms to appropriate stakeholders and maintain a clean contract repository.
Supplier Relationship & Risk Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers; serve as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned supplier accounts.
- Conduct regular supplier business reviews (QBRs) to assess performance against SLAs, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and strengthen partnerships.
- Coordinate third-party risk assessments (TPRM) in partnership with Security and Legal; ensure suppliers meet Kaseya's risk and data privacy standards.
- Manage supplier onboarding and maintain accurate supplier master data; escalate underperforming suppliers and manage remediation or exit plans as needed.
- Identify single-source dependencies and develop mitigation strategies to reduce supply chain concentration risk.
Operational Excellence & Financial Management
- Track, report, and validate savings and cost avoidance against targets; document value delivery in structured savings registers.
- Monitor spend analytics to identify off-contract leakage, maverick spend, and consolidation opportunities across assigned categories.
- Support internal audit and compliance requirements by maintaining complete and accurate procurement documentation and audit trails.
Stakeholder Partnership & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, align sourcing timelines, and ensure procurement supports business milestones.
- Educate business partners on procurement processes, policies, and tools; drive adoption of preferred channels and compliant purchasing behaviors.
- Represent Procurement in cross-functional project teams; contribute procurement perspective to supplier selection, product evaluations, and technology decisions.
- Communicate clearly and proactively on sourcing status, escalations, timelines, and risk to stakeholders at all levels.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field required.
- Advanced coursework, MBA, or certifications in procurement, supply chain, or IT procurement is a plus.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain with demonstrated ownership of indirect spend categories.
- Direct experience sourcing and negotiating IT hardware, software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, or professional services strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings, negotiating favorable contract terms, and managing supplier relationships.
- Experience working within a CLM or S2P platform (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Coupa, Ariba, ServiceNow, Zip) and proficiency with spend analytics tools.
- Familiarity with contract structures including MSAs, SOWs, SaaS subscription agreements, DPAs, and SLAs.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical capabilities; able to model total cost of ownership (TCO), build business cases, and interpret spend data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets for cost modeling, scenario analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present procurement recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of commercial contract terms and the ability to negotiate redlines with limited legal support.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with competing priorities and tight timelines.
Preferred Certifications
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CIPS, or CPP preferred.
- IT-specific credentials (e.g., Certified Technology Procurement Executive — CTPE) are a plus.
