How Netrio helps clients deploy phishing protection in minutes with INKY

A security-first approach to managed IT

Founded in 2010, Netrio is a fast-growing managed IT and cybersecurity provider delivering proactive, white-glove service to organizations around the world. From systems monitoring and application management to managed detection and response, Netrio’s services are built with security as a foundational requirement — not an add-on. “We always bring that cybersecurity touch to everything we do,” says Michael Trillo, Director of End User Engineering at Netrio.

As Netrio expanded its portfolio of managed services, email security — and specifically phishing protection — became a critical focus. With end users consistently representing one of the largest attack surfaces,  Netrio needed a solution that didn’t just block threats in the background, but actively helped users recognize and avoid them.

The limits of traditional phishing defenses

While Netrio partners with multiple technology vendors, phishing protection stood out as an area where traditional approaches often fell short. Many tools focused on filtering messages but offered little visibility or education for end users.

For Netrio, that gap mattered. End users are often the last line of defense, and anything that improves their ability to identify risk can significantly reduce the likelihood of successful attacks.

That’s where INKY came in.

Why Netrio standardized on INKY for phishing protection

Netrio evaluates multiple email security tools when designing client environments, but consistently steers customers toward a simpler, more effective approach. “We also offer Office 365 spam and Proofpoint,” says Trillo. “But I’d rather put just INKY in. Almost all of our clients go with INKY and Office 365 spam.”

What set INKY apart wasn’t just detection accuracy, but how clearly threats were communicated to end users, through the Email Assistant color-coded banners.

“The banners are my favorite part of the INKY offering. You really can’t get anything on the market that looks as nice.” Michael Trillo, Director of End User Engineering

INKY’s Email Assistant clearly displays why an email has been flagged, listing specific risk indicators in a way thats easy to understand. “Nobody is going to click on anything with a big red banner and five warning items listed,” Trillo adds.

Reducing phishing risk at the user level

Years of supporting client environments have shown Netrio where phishing risk truly originates. “End users are your biggest risk, and anything you can do to help them not get phished is amazing,” says Trillo.

Since deploying INKY,  Netrio has seen a reduction in the number of cases where clients report phishing-related issues. Users are more confident identifying suspicious emails, more proactive about reporting them and less likely to fall victim to phishing attempts.

A partner experience that scales

INKY’s Partner Program also played a role in Netrio’s decision. Flexible licensing, fast deployment and self-service administration made it easier for Netrio to onboard and manage clients efficiently.

“The fact that we don’t have to email the support team to add clients and I can just add them myself — that is amazing,” Trillo says. “The deployment is also great. The new process takes me 10 minutes to set up a client and I’m done.”

Support has been equally strong.

“If we have any issues, we work through the INKY support team and they have all been great. As our relationship has continued, I feel like it gets better and better all of the time.” Michael Trillo, Director of End User Engineering
Proven in real-world testing

One unexpected moment put INKY’s effectiveness to the test during a client-led phishing exercise. “I spoke to one of these clients after the fact and found out that INKY caught and flagged everything he had used in the test,” Trillo says.

This instance served as prove that the platform doesn’t just look good on paper — it performs it performs when tested in real-world conditions.

Today, INKY plays a key role in how Netrio protects its clients against phishing threats. Clear communication, strong detection and an improving platform give both Netrio and its customers confidence in their email security posture. As Trillo puts it, “It gets smarter every day — you have to give it time to learn.”

For Netrio, that learning translates into fewer incidents, more informed users and stronger security outcomes across every client environment.
