IT Glue’s API evolution: How we’re delivering on Kaseya’s API-first vision

In October 2025, Kaseya CEO Rania Succar announced a bold strategic shift: Kaseya would become an API-first organization. The goal wasn’t simply to modernize APIs for the sake of it — it was to create a more open, unified and extensible platform that empowers MSPs, partners and developers to innovate faster.

Six months later, that vision is becoming real, tangible progress — starting with IT Glue.

Over the past several months, IT Glue has made significant investments in its API, expanding both the depth of existing endpoints and the breadth of entirely new ones. Since September alone, we’ve launched six new API endpoints, with more on the way, giving partners and developers unprecedented access to IT Glue data and workflows.

This is what API-first execution looks like.

What “API-first” really means for Kaseya (and MSPs)

An API-first approach treats APIs as first-class citizens in product development. Instead of building features first and exposing APIs later, APIs are designed upfront — intentionally, securely and with extensibility in mind.

Under Rania’s leadership, Kaseya’s API-first strategy focuses on three core pillars:

  • A unified platform with secure, modern APIs across Kaseya products
  • An open ecosystem that makes third-party integrations easier to build and maintain
  • A connected data layer that powers smarter automation, AI and business intelligence

For MSPs, this means fewer silos, faster innovation and more flexibility to build workflows that fit their business — not the other way around.

IT Glue is playing a key role in bringing this strategy to life.

A major step forward for the IT Glue API

Historically, IT Glue’s API provided strong read access, but partners told us they wanted more control, more flexibility and more ways to automate documentation workflows end to end.

We listened.

In the last six months, we’ve expanded the IT Glue API with a mix of enhanced existing endpoints and brand-new CRUD endpoints, unlocking full lifecycle management for critical documentation objects.

CRUD refers to the four core operations for working with data: create, read, update and delete. Full CRUD access means developers can build truly bi-directional integrations — not just pull data, but actively manage it.

Newly launched IT Glue API endpoints

Here’s what’s new.

Groups API (CRUD)

Manage groups programmatically — create them, update memberships, retrieve details or remove them entirely. This enables automated access control and identity-driven workflows.

Checklists API (CRUD)

Create and maintain standardized operational checklists via the API. Ideal for onboarding workflows, recurring procedures and enforcing documentation consistency at scale.

Password folders API (CRUD)

Programmatically organize password structures, enabling smarter automation around credential management while maintaining security and structure.

Launching this week: Expanding document control

This week, three additional endpoints are launching that dramatically expand how partners can work with IT Glue documentation.

Documents API (CRUD)

Full lifecycle management of documents — create, retrieve, update and delete documents directly through the API.

Document Sections API (CRUD)

Granular control over document structure, enabling dynamic document generation and automated updates at the section level.

Document Images API (Create, Read, Delete)

Programmatic management of images inside IT Glue documents, ideal for automated visual documentation, diagrams and supporting assets.

Together, these endpoints unlock powerful new automation scenarios that simply weren’t possible before.

Why this matters for partners and developers

These updates reduce manual documentation work and make it easier for MSPs to scale automation across their operations.

With expanded CRUD access, partners can now:

  • Build deeper integrations that push and maintain documentation automatically
  • Eliminate manual documentation updates across tools
  • Create smarter onboarding, auditing and compliance workflows
  • Treat IT Glue as a true system of record, not a static repository

And because this work aligns with Kaseya’s broader API-first initiative, it sets the foundation for tighter integration across the Kaseya ecosystem over time.

Building toward an API-first future

IT Glue’s recent API investments are a clear signal of where Kaseya is headed: toward a more open, connected and extensible platform built for MSP innovation. Six new endpoints in six months is just the start.

As we continue delivering on Rania Succar’s API-first vision, you can expect faster iteration, deeper access and APIs that are designed not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how Kaseya products are built.

For partners, developers and MSPs alike, this means more freedom to build what’s next.
