Patch management: Immediate end-user reboot notifications
Administrators can now enable a “Notify Immediately” option in patch management policies to alert users as soon as a reboot is required following patch deployment. Instead of waiting for a predefined notification window, users are informed right away and can choose to restart immediately or defer within the allowed timeframe, while still meeting the scheduled deadline. The notification clearly displays the reboot deadline and provides options to Restart Now or snooze the reminder for up to 24 hours.
This prompt is triggered by reboots required through Patch Management policy-driven updates. However, in some cases, system-level conditions — such as Windows updates, driver installations or registry flags indicating a pending reboot — may also influence when prompts appear or are not triggered, depending on how the underlying system reports reboot requirements.
