VulScan

Vulnerability scanning that finds and manages risks early

Vulnerabilities are constantly introduced through software updates, misconfigurations and new devices. VulScan makes it easy to identify internal and external vulnerabilities, prioritize the risks that matter most and take action with clear remediation guidance before attackers can exploit them.

Why VulScan?

Secure your networks with proactive vulnerability management

VulScan helps you spot exposures early to you can stay ahead of evolving threats. Turn raw findings into an actionable remediation plan and focus your efforts where risk is the highest to efficiently manage vulnerability across complex networks.

Eliminate hidden vulnerabilities

Detect exploitable weaknesses from inside and outside your network with flexible scanning options. Automatically run recurring scans in your internal and external IT environments. Catch vulnerabilities and reduce blind spots across your network.

“VulScan is an excellent tool for identifying internal and external vulnerabilities. I found it easy to spin up the scanning appliance in our virtual environment and get right to scanning and remediation.” Seth Dykstra, Senior Engineer, Ascend Technology Group

Deliver security at scale

Managing vulnerability scanning across multiple networks can quickly become complex. VulScan simplifies deployment and recurring scans so you can maintain broad vulnerability coverage without adding headcount.

“The details the scans provide give you what you need to fix the solution. You can also mark known issues as accepted or, on a rare occasion, a false positive can be drawn not to appear again.” Felix Cantrell, Owner, Paracord By Taz
Deliver security at scale

Manage vulnerability across multiple networks

Scale vulnerability management across distributed environments of any size with multi-tenant architecture. Deploy as many scanners as needed and manage everything from a single online portal that lets you drill down into results and trends for individual networks.

“The reporting features provides really in-depth actionable reports that gives us detailed information that not only explains the vulnerability, but helps us to share the justification for the billable time it would take to correct the vulnerability.” Zach Tracy, Senior Technician, Intellicom Computer Consulting

Features

Simple vulnerability management
built to scale

Automated internal & external vulnerability scanning

Security risks often exist both inside and outside the network perimeter. Automatically scan internal systems and external attack surfaces to identify vulnerabilities across networks, endpoints and internet-facing assets.

Schedule recurring scans

Schedule recurring scans

New vulnerabilities are introduced every time systems are updated, configured, or deployed. Recurring scans help ensure you discover new risks quickly so they can be address them before they are exploited.

Built-in false-positive reduction

Don't waste time chasing alerts that turn out not to be real risks. VulScan validates findings and filters false positives so you can focus on high-impact vulnerabilities that require action.

Simple setup with preconfigured scan profiles

Start scanning immediately, no complex configuration required. VulScan includes preconfigured scan profiles that make it easy to deploy scanners and begin identifying vulnerabilities quickly.

Scalable scanning across environment

Scalable scanning across environments

As IT environments grow, vulnerability scanning can become difficult to manage. VulScan allows you to deploy multiple scanners across networks and locations, expanding coverage without increasing operational complexity.

Actionable remediation recommendations

Knowing a vulnerability exists doesn’t mean you know how to fix it. VulScan provides remediation guidance to help prioritize and resolve vulnerabilities quickly and reduce overall risk exposure.

Frequently asked questions about vulnerability scanning

A vulnerability scanner is an all-in-one tool that allows you to quickly evaluate networks for security vulnerabilities that attackers could exploit. It scans network endpoints, systems and applications to identify known vulnerabilities, risky configurations and exposed services, then reports findings so teams can prioritize fixes and reduce risk.

Vulnerability scanning works by discovering reachable assets and testing them for weaknesses using automated checks. The scanner probes open services and configurations, and may also run authenticated scans with credentials to validate patch levels and settings from the inside.

Scan results are then matched to a database of known issues, scored by severity (often using CVSS, the Common Vulnerability Scoring System), and displayed in dashboards or reports with context and guidance for remediation.

Vulnerability scans should be completed on a cadence that matches risk, change rate and compliance needs. The Center for Internet Security (CIS) recommends you “perform scans on a monthly, or more frequent, basis” for externally exposed (internet-facing) enterprise assets.

Other entities also call for additional scans after meaningful changes and more frequent scanning in higher-risk or fast-changing environments. While there is no set standard, the goal is to always have consistent coverage and fast detection of new critical exposures before they’re exploited.

Vulnerability management is the ongoing practice of finding vulnerabilities, prioritizing them, fixing what matters most, and proving progress over time. It combines regular vulnerability scanning, risk scoring, remediation planning, ticketing or task assignment, and reporting.

Effective programs also include retesting, exception handling, and trend monitoring to drive measurable risk reduction as environments evolve.

Vulnerability management is important because new vulnerabilities appear constantly and attackers move quickly to target them. A consistent program helps teams ensure that their networks are secure by strategically addressing risks before they become liabilities.

When done effectively, proactive vulnerability management lowers the risk of a breach, limits downtime and strengthens trust with customers and stakeholders.
