Salinor powers up IT operations with a smooth migration to VSA 10

Building a stronger IT foundation for large-scale operations

Salinor, Brazil’s largest salt producer, supplies more than 40% of the country’s sea salt and exports over 2.5 million tons annually to markets across the Americas, Africa and Europe. To support operations at this scale, the company relies on a stable and efficient IT infrastructure that keeps production, logistics and administrative systems running without interruption.

For Salinor, the goal is clear. “Our goal is to maintain an SLA above 95% for our services and to keep the overall environment available 99.99% of the time,” said CIO Roberto Lins. For years, VSA 9 helped the company meet those standards. However, as operations became more digital and data-driven, managing 230 endpoints and 20 servers with a 10-person team required faster automation, smarter monitoring and more streamlined workflows.

That’s when the company decided to move to VSA 10. The migration provided a modern interface and advanced capabilities that matched their evolving needs. CIO Lins and Infrastructure Coordinator Mauro Assis shared how the seamless migration of hundreds of devices, including workstations and servers, unlocked major efficiencies for the IT team. With advanced automation, faster remote access and streamlined patching, they now save hours of manual work while gaining greater control and operational agility.

A seamless migration built on preparation and partnership

For Salinor, the migration to VSA 10 had to be seamless. To ensure that, the Kaseya migration team conducted a detailed review of the company’s environment — from licenses and scripts to machine groups, profiles and custom fields — carefully identifying and mitigating potential risks in advance.

The preparation paid off. All 230 endpoints were migrated successfully, with zero configuration issues or data loss. “We couldn’t have achieved such a seamless transition without the support we received,” Lins shared. “The responsiveness of the migration team and the highly effective preparation were key to our success.”

Once the migration was complete, employees received automatic onboarding invitations, logged in, set up their accounts and immediately regained access to everything they had in VSA 9.

“The VSA 10 migration wizard that supported the automatic onboarding was a big factor, and a very positive surprise for us,” said Assis.

“VSA 9 was a good experience and helped a lot in managing our company’s resources. What motivated us to switch to VSA 10 was how easy and effective it is to use automation for troubleshooting and patch management.” Roberto Lins, CIO, Salinor
Transforming operations with speed, automation and visibility

The true transformation began after the migration. While Salinor’s IT team was pleased with how smoothly the transition went, the full value of VSA 10 became clear once it was in daily use. Across automation, patching, monitoring and remote access, the improvements were immediate and measurable.

300% faster troubleshooting and automation gains

One of the biggest gains came from automation.

“For us to run a task automation with PowerShell, test on a few machines and then deploy to all the machines, the process used to take four hours or more,” Lins explained. “Now, in VSA 10, we use automation workflows and pre-built scripts to deploy within one hour for all the machines, all properly tested with far less programming effort”.

Stronger patch management

Patch management also improved significantly. “One of the great improvements of the platform was patch management, which made it easier to approve what we are going to apply and what we are not”, said Assis.

Patches are now deployed in minutes, with faster approval workflows. The team can see patch status in real time and access detailed reports that track compliance and errors across all servers and workstations.

Smarter monitoring and alert management

With VSA 9, the team spent hours managing alerts and manual configurations that made monitoring complex and time-consuming. However, with VSA 10’s built-in policies and preconfigured alerts, monitoring is now streamlined and effortless.

“Monitoring became much easier within our environment because VSA 10 already came with everything well designed and well configured,” Assis explained.

The streamlined setup reduced unnecessary alerts and simplified day-to-day management. “In the past, we had a huge alert list that consumed a lot of effort,” Lins added. “With VSA 10, this process has become much more efficient and streamlined, with less noise.”

The team now saves time and works more reliably, using custom dashboards and reports to maintain real-time visibility and respond faster when issues arise.

50% faster remote access and onboarding

Remote access in VSA 10 has become faster and more reliable, and web-based tools like copy-and-paste for commands and passwords have cut resolution times in half.

“Today, we can provide better remote access to users with no interruptions, and the performance is very good. Remote sessions that used to take 20 minutes take around 10, upgrading our resolution times significantly,” Assis said.

Routine onboarding tasks have also become easier. New employees can be onboarded in minutes, giving the IT team more time to focus on higher-value initiatives.

“The gain from the new platform is undoubtedly very large in terms of our department productivity, uptime and overall efficiency. We’re sure we will upgrade our deliveries as we continue to explore the new AI features for automation, which will certainly bring even more benefits for managing our infrastructure.” Roberto Lins, CIO, Salinor
Driving continuous improvement with VSA 10

For Salinor’s IT department, moving to VSA 10 was more than a version update — it was an operational transformation. The platform delivered the speed, efficiency and visibility they needed to keep Brazil’s largest salt producer running without interruption.

Their advice to others planning a migration is simple: prepare carefully, be patient and collaborate closely with Kaseya’s Product Support Engineering team. That partnership was key to a smooth transition and helped avoid post-migration challenges.

Looking ahead, the team sees even greater potential in VSA 10. With AI-driven automation, Salinor expects to boost productivity even further and simplify IT management across all operations.
